I expect him to be a bit more firm. Right now, getting an answer out of him is like trying to nail jello to a wall.
Have any weddings that have actually been put on hold, or are we just looking for stuff to get pissed about because fuck Fauci?
Actually, I think 37,972.5, or so.
Next dumb question, please....

So for you, that would be zero?

My nephew is one.
I suspect there are many, many more.

But I'll be honest, I really don't know how big a deal that is. That's not code for "I don't think that it is," I'm saying my ability to objectively gauge COVID-related issues is completely compromised.
On the one hand, I have several friends who are in the same wedding holding pattern. Putting life events on hold really sucks. Absolutely it does. I can see that in principle, anyway.
On the other hand, I had to cut some boards over the weekend. To reinforce my doors. Oh and I changed my locks. To protect myself from crazy-fuck relatives who have absolutely no respect for others' safety ("If no one else is vaccinated that's their own problem, what does it matter what happens to them"โdirect quote). My phone was ready to call 911. So you know what, today I'm having a hard time giving much of a shit what Fauci is or is not saying in the news about weddings today.

What I'm saying, is that COVID fatigue has set in and is rapidly getting worse.
Officers are taught in the military to not give an order that will be totally ignored. I think Biden's silliness about July 4th barbecues and Fauci's utterances on June Weddings are engendering a massive middle finger response from the public-at-large.
I think the only thing that can ease some of the hardening of the public's position, are some concrete numbers, such as "When vaccination numbers hit xyz%, this, this and this will be ok.
Hard to tell people to have patience, when you keep moving the goalposts, or worse, admitting there are no goalposts...

@aqua-letifer said in Uh, about that June wedding...:
What the hell do you expect him to say, June 20th at 5:12 am?
Msybe he could just talk inane bollocks for hours on end, and go on about what a really great job he's doing.
That approach seems to keep some people happy.
The thing about unpredictable situations is they're quite hard to predict.

Gibberish is gibberish, no matter if it's coming from Fauci or you.
You want certainty in life? You want total lack of risk? Ain't no such animal.
You, of all people, should know that...

Fauci isn't talking gibberish, he's saying he doesn't know.

What?
St. Fauci doesn't know!
Be still, heretic, or we'll burn you at the stake!
-
I really don't see the point.
-
Saying 'I don't know' really isn't a problem, unless you're massively insecure and trying to pretend you're a lot smarter or knowledgeable than you actually are.

That's correct. And that statement is always right.
But, when everyone hangs on every word you say, it sort of undermines your credibility when you have to reverse yourself.
"Were you right then, or are you right now? Or, maybe, you just didn't know?""We don't need masks" morphed into "maybe two masks are better, it makes sense."
Had he said, "I don't know" back then, he would have earned a lot more respect.
But he didn't.
For the record, I don't know either. But I'm an ignoranus, and proud of it, I might add.

FWIW, early on in any novel situation, you have no way of knowing how much there is yet to learn. Often you make the mistake of assuming you've got the handle. Then as time goes on and the deal develops in new ways, you learn differently.
You don't know that you don't know, IOW.

You would have found it an issue a few month ago.
No, I really wouldn't.
My problem isn't with people who say they don't know. It's people who claim to be experts when they're fucking clueless.
-
@mik said in Uh, about that June wedding...:
You mean like Biden telling everyone we'll all get together for the 4th of July?
Yeah, he's a fucking idiot.
