January 2023 - News breaks of an outbreak of a new respiratory disease in the Philippines. Very virulent and hard to treat, it has ravaged a small town 30 miles outside of Manila and despite the best efforts of containment, it’s popping up like crazy in Manila itself.
What do you want to see done, if anything? Immediate travel quarantine of the Philippines? Immediate quarantine for all international travel? Wait and see?

It worked where people actually adhered to quarantine guidelines, strictly.
As for international travel ban, there needs to be worldwide coordination, else you only lock yourself down and still have to deal with severe supply chain issues because the rest of the world got infected. So don’t go pissing off the rest of world for no good reason and try to stick to telling the truth in good faith such that when you need to tell the world “we all need to do X because of Y”, you have credibility.

Last I saw he was annoyed with something I said to him and he said he was leaving. I hope he comes back, he usually does. I've seen this movie before. We want him here, but he didn't like my references to Biden's (landslide, per Trump's own metric) victory.

The phillipines, a country of desperate poor little women trying to find a white man to take them out of the horrible lives they lead. I was in the Navy. I know many a sailor with a Filipino wife. Have you ever had pancit or lumpia? The shit is sooo good!
