Lifestyle brands - Apple and Target?

The article tries to explain why Target stores are good locations (better than BestBuy stores) for Apple Inc, to sell its products by claiming that both Apple and Target are “lifestyle” brands.
That piqued my interest enough to ask this question:
Do you consider Apple and/or Target lifestyle brands?
I use a lot of Apple products but I consider them tools rather than lifestyle choices. I recognize Target as a big box retailer that’s less crowded and a tad more expensive than Walmart but I don’t think of Target as a “lifestyle” brand.

Target is Walmart with a better sense of design. Lifestyle brand? Not to me.

It's like when you buy an Apple product and feel fundamentally good about it because it makes you more complete as a person. Also less racist.

It's posery. Basically, "I want people to think X about me, so these are the products I own to sell that idea."
North Face has become a lifestyle brand. They still make some good stuff, but a lot of their shit is geared toward people who want to present themselves as outdoorsy. So they sell "performance flannel" or whatever the hell.
Patagonia kind of is, too, because they sell shit like horrendously overpriced printed t-shirts, but the difference is, their nicer stuff actually does still work well.

Carhartt is like that too now. It’s by far the go-to brand for those who work on farms or construction sites... but lately it also seems to be a brand that hipsters wear.

"Systemic racism" is a lifestyle of racism. If buying Apple products can fight against that, then I would ask everybody to consider which is the more ethical choice - an iPhone, or a Galaxy? It's everybody's own choice and I don't judge, but personally, I am unequivocally against white supremacy. Unlike Galaxy owners, apparently.

I suspect people go to Target at least 5 and maybe 10 times as often as they go to Best Buy. If I’m Apple I just want more at bats, the reality could be as simple as that.

True story.
Today my wife and I wanted to go to Best Buy to get my daughter some headphones.
Well they don’t open until 11am.
And the headphones we want are not in stock at our local store.
We switch to Amazon....I can get the exact same headphones for $1 cheaper and delivered free tomorrow. Or delivered this afternoon for $3.
