I don't know the backstory to this at all, but I'll bet it's really interesting . On Superior Street, just east of Wells, there's this building. It got rehabbed...

It looks as though the two buildings on either side are trying to crush it

Those little holdouts add nome character and mystery to a neighborhood. We have one in my little town, an old house and lot carved out from a big shopping development.

I remember when we used to drive on the M62 motorway over the Pennines between Lancashire and Yorkshire, there was a farmhouse situated between the two carriageways. The typically stubborn Yorkshire farmer had just refused to sell, so they had to build the motorway around him, and also build access tunnels to his farm.

I understand being attached to your home, but eeks, i am not sure I would want to continue to live there when things changed so much.
There have been a number of article in mainland China about old villages that are being destroyed to build new condos, etc. Often, there is one or two villagers who do not want to leave, so teh demolition goes on around them.
Eventually (it seems) in the middle of the night, the police come, evict the people, and tear down their home!

When they rehabbed that building they should've made the windows extra skinny to really sell the "being squeezed!" look.
