What’s funny is we are flying back in March or April to look at houses, and timing the trip around the trial... jury selection starts March 8 and likely will have a verdict around March 26th maybe.

No, he is going to live near my part of the state. For the same or less cost, he'll get more house, less crime, better schools, nicer lifestyle.
When he needs to go to the office those few times, it's a short trip.
I might add reasonable distance from in-laws, too.
