F22 at the Costco today

I was over in Newport News this afternoon at the Costco and remembered one of the reasons I like to go there.

There were a couple F22 Raptors flying around only a few hundred feet up. They were probably practicing landing at Langley AFB, maybe Newport News airport.

They were coming over the Costco and just standing on their left wing with about a 90 degree roll and making a terrific noise.

I stood there for a while with my mouth open thinking that is the coolest thing ever. They probably went over 8 or 10 times. The ground was shaking and they look so cool standing on their wing like that - like in the beginning of this video with a little less speed.

Most of the shoppers didn't seem to notice.

The water vapor coming off the surfaces is cool.

I wonder how many Gs the airmen were pulling. Probably doesn't matter because it's going to be all robots in another 20-30 years.

Hurts to watch that. I like roller coasters, but acceleration like that seems super uncomfortable.
