The charging port on my 1st gen SE is going wonky and the battery, while still adequate, is draining a lot faster than it used to. Still, I've gotten four and a half years out of it so it doesn't owe me anything.

So what to get? I like the price and size of the 2nd gen SEs, but no headphone jack and no upgraded camera.
Looking mostly at the 12 model right now. 5G, much upgraded camera, Magsafe stuff, etc. A little large for pokcet which I like to use, but still OK I think.

So, if you have recently purchased an iPhone which one did you buy?

      @mik 12 mini. I love it.

      Great camera.

Battery is smaller, of course, but I don't rely on my phone that much that it's an issue.

I have the 12. I love it. The battery lasts much longer than the one I had in my seven. It takes great photos. The 5G business seems mostly fanciful hype - at least so far. The one thing I don't understand about either iphones or especially my iPad is how freaking long it takes to download emails - even at home on a very fast internet connection. Emails load on my pc instantly. On my iPad. I sometimes find it faster to go downstairs, power up the PC and can load faster than the iPad. The iPhone is a bit faster - but still not as fast as the PC. What gives?

Back to the iPhone - love everything else about it. I think we'll be friends for a long time. The size is fine though I wouldn't want larger. I like using Bluetooth headphones to listen to podcasts. Using wired anything unless you're sitting in a chair is annoying.

Mini or the regular iPhone 12. You’re not getting a whole lot more for your money with the 12 pro unless you REALLY care about the camera. And the camera is pretty similar and fantastic on the regular 12 and mini.

          (I have a 12 pro).

          I’m going mini next time.

When the 13 pro drops it’ll likely have buttery smooth scrolling, if that’s important to you (120Hz)

I got an 11 to save money. I don't understand spending a shit ton of money on a phone, when you can get one that was top of the line a year earlier for quite a bit less.

IPhone XR at 499 is a no brainer.

If you have money to burn get the 11.

Get an iPad for serious internet. People who don’t have an iPad are nuts.

12 Pro. No issues other than I wish it was a tad (TAD) smaller.

I was torn between it and the 12 Mini. Even though I trust George and am glad it works for him, for me I wanted the 3rd lens on the Pro, the larger battery, and typing on the smaller screen was a bit tougher. It's cool, though, that the 12 mini screen displays the same amount of content though, just scaled down a tad.

For many people, like my kids, their phones are their primary "connectivity" device. So, for them, I see the attractiveness of a larger screen with easier typing.

For me, the luddite, my desktop is where I do most of my stuff. If I have to type something on my phone (like a text), I'll dictate it, and it works just fine.

For consuming content, I'm perfectly happy with my iPad.

@89th, iirc, the iPhone 12 Pro is just a bit smaller than the iPhone 11.

My recent phone upgrade was to a iPhone 7 plus. LOL

This does not have a headphone jack either. I thought it would be a problem but it is not.

At first, I bought a "dongle", that I would plug into my headphones and then into the phone. It is quite rare that I would be suing my headphones at the same time of charging the phone.

And recently, I bought a (pretty) cheap pair of "bluetooth" headphones, so dont need the dongle at all.

I decided to go a bit bigger and get the 12. It arrives tomorrow and we will see. But they finally got me to spring for the 50GB iCloud, dammit.
