“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

It is/was crazy how expensive it is to live there, especially considering what you get for the price.

It kind of goes in a circle, prices go up, companies have to pay more to get the people to that area, etc etc

Having said all that, I am still a strong believer in the "face to face" interactions.

I realize that the COVID has made a lot of changes in the working world, but if things are equal, i think it is better to have the in person interaction. I know it is hard to prove, but just my feeling. I have flown from the Asia to the US (and vs.) for a two hour meeting. Me (and my boss) feld it was better to be in person than to see someone over a video screen. That may change in teh future however. LOL

"You start to feel stupid" says it all. Eventually, the only taxpayers CA will have left are the lifers who don't know any better.

        Education is extremely important.

If the one percent truly pay almost all the tax in San Fran something is going to change for sure.

The part of Yangs basic income for all New Yorkers that I don’t get is that it does nothing for those that pay the taxes and u increase the taxes to fund it, you get more people to think about leaving. Gordian knot.

Yeah I haven't paid too much attention to Yang's run but there's no way an NYC-based UBI is workable. Is he proposing that? If so, has he released specifics?

The Bay Area is a unique brew. Much of the US’s market cap is driven out of that city. Much of the world’s VC funds and PE capital flow to the city.

It’s a gold rush town. I don’t think most moved to gold rush towns for the lifestyle.

With things in stasis and zero value to actually being in person - it makes a ton of sense that people don’t want to pay for it right now.
