- It's often the M.O. of the Capitol Police to take it easy with use of force, and there are many reasons for this. One of which is, they know these fucks check their phones. They see and hear some edited bullshit on Parler or whatever the fuck they use, and in a separate corner of the mob, they might try to breach barricades and the whole thing becomes a real shitshow. It's easier to act as hall monitor for trespassers than fight a mob.
- The police captains are probably keenly aware of how police like to be portrayed during demonstrations in the media. You can definitely thank the liberals for the soft response, at least in part.
I think terrorism charges are appropriate.

I watched the video of the shooting, it was a woman shot, in the neck, likely fatal. Was not clear who shot, law-enforcement or even maybe friendly fire were accidental discharge by protester, TBD.
Also this is not a coup, not even 0.1% of one, this is just a protest that got too far past security barricades. They can’t actually do anything, no military or other forces required to actually take over government. Bunch of whiny sore losers.

That's not the benchmark for charges to be brought up. If they only posed stupidly in office chairs, yeah, lesser charge. But their goofy shenanigans prevented the vote from happening today, that was deliberate, and they wanted to do that because they want the vote overturned. Sorry, no, it's more serious than that, even though as you say it'll lead to nothing.

He, and every fucking body who entered the Capitol without a pass, needs to be brought up on an assload of charges, including 18 USC 2385.
The charges don't stick, fine, whatever. But there's plenty for a court case.
