Trump has been very illuminating.
I think for different reasons than outlined in this article.
The best part about him is that he’s completely disinterested in the design of our democracy. He starts from the premise that he has good intentions and should be able to do what he needs to do.
All the checks and balances are bullshit to him.
In acting this way he has exposed parts of our political frameworks that have turned out to be over-intellectualized bullshit. I’ve learned a lot about things that are law vs. just norms.

Don't think so. Trump understands the checks and balances. He understands the diminished role of Congress and the enhanced role of the courts. He didn't create that. He's just trying to exploit it for leverage.
He uses every legal tactic to achieve his desired ends. But when ruled against, he quits or tries a different course.
And unlike a typical politician like Biden, he usually tells you exactly what he is going to do, before he does it.

@jolly the only durable things he’s done have been through congress. Everything else can be undone at the end of this month.
I think Obama explicitly said to Trump that it was a failure of his to rely too much on exec orders.
If Congress is diminished - too bad. Our system is built on Congress being functional. The idea that the executive can pick up the slack is harmful.
The judges he chose are also durable. But that seems like it was more to broaden his political support. He doesn’t seem to really want originalists. He really wants activist Trumpists (equal, but opposite of liberal judges)
