I know this will anger a lot of gymnasts, figure skaters, etc.
Get rid of judged events. Keep sports that can be measured (races, javelin) or scored objectively (like soccer/baseball, whatever). When you introduce what a "judge" thinks, you're looking for complaints.

Just go back to the original games... Track and Field and Wrestling. I’m also okay if they keep the swimming races and add on duels to the death.
