I read that testing was indeed down during the holiday weekend.

My son worked black Friday at Kohl's. I couldn't believe how many people were shopping. I understand the need for family get-togethers, but bargain hunting? I wish he didn't have to work, TBH. I don't see how we can't get an uptick from this.

        I was only joking

I’d suspect we will have a spike after thanksgiving as well as after Christmas and then starting in January we begin the permanent decline in cases until we are all vaccinated by the summer.

Doesn't mesh with what I am seeing, with more folks I know coming down with it, but that is hardly the big picture view.

Yes, my wife's hospital also had a policy for some time that they had to show up for work while sick when possible at all.

Heard in the UK - "What do you mean, we're not supporting hospital staff? I stood and applauded them for a good 15 minutes three days ago!"

2658 deaths reported today, an all time high.

Still too early to tease out how much of that is record deaths occurring vs a catch-up on reporting.

                          You were warned.

The only thing realistically that could have made a difference is the vaccine. Our strategic patience has consequences. Deadly in retrospect.

The national case numbers seem to have crested. The regional view looks like it's trending well, NE still rising but at a slower rate.

Just need to hope that Thanksgiving doesn't reignite things.

                                Six days later:

Looks like the midwest really was declining before thanksgiving, but has started rising again. The other regions probably hadn't turned a corner at all, and the small dip was just an artifact of the holiday reporting break.
