She has a strangely familiar sense of humor.

Has Trav gotten his results yet?

I’ve been on hold for 45 minutes trying to Luke scheduled for a test and a video consultation.

Yup. Got them last night - he's positive.

The interesting question is where did he get it? D2 has been negative since the end of October.

        How's Luke doing?

Same... Slightly elevated temperature, a bit less congestion, taste and smell are greatly reduced. I had a little fun with that by hiding “surprises” in his meals... Foods that he doesn’t like and refuses to eat...Even added an olive smoothie to his salad dressing without him knowing.

We have a Doctor consultation at 3:30 (spent an hour on hold trying to reach the office, they are swamped with calls). I decided to go that route instead of just scheduling a test since my Doctor is set up for the 1 hour test. Even if they can’t get him in until Tuesday for it, we’ll get the results sooner than going to one of the drugstores this morning.

We are all supercharging our Vitamin D and C levels, and I have him taking 4 -5 of the zinc lozenges per day.

He has his own restroom and is primarily spending his time in his bedroom or in the computer room, kitchen is off limits, and if he does need to talk with us for a bit we are all masked. Still feels like the closing the bar door after the cows left, though. He was contagious for 2-3 days before his first symptom...

There's a deep, dark chasm between 'don't live in fear, God will provide' and 'don't live in fear, but take reasonable precautions'.

What was that old saw about God helping those who help themselves?

Should we treat the symptoms? He has an elevated temperature but below 100 (99.5) but his congestion is worse. I’m hesitant to give him DayQuil because it would bring down the temp and the temperature is helping his immune system... If it was a cold, I wouldn’t hesitate since the immune system will catch up in a day or two, but with this crap I want to give it every chance to do it’s thing... Thoughts?

MS is finally better, but still all neg tests.

Her docs said treat the symptoms -- which was for her steroids to open the chest and antibiotics to boost against secondary infection and pneumonia.

She's back to work, but still no sense of taste or smell. Her covid FB group (perhaps the same as D2) is a wealth of anecdotal but very consistent information about multi-systemic symptoms and treatments and effects. Including kidney stones, dry and cracked lips and tongue, and "icy - hot" feelings in her mouth, throat, and upper shoulders, all of which MS had.

Some people after 8 months haven't gotten their sense of taste or smell back. One H1N1 survivor never got her sense of smell and taste back from 2009. Ugh.

LD -- the wisdom is to treat it as if -- it took a couple of different courses of antibiotics and a superdose of short term steroid to clear up MS. The most important thing seems to be to keep him where he doesn't need to go to the hospital for ventilation, because that's a whole other problem. Get a doc involved ASAP -- call in favors -- they don't want to see you in their office, but I was able to coordinate via telehealth with her local PCP, her immunologist, and our old doc in Phx (a dear friend), to get them all on the same page, and it worked.

Prayers for your sons and the whole family.

Thanks for the prayers and the info. I honestly don’t expect Lucas to get to the point of needing anything other than some slight symptomatic relief. He really appears to following the typical teenage scenario... Very mild symptoms, no cough, a little congestion, mild fever... The only big red flag is the loss of smell and taste. There’s every reason to hope he’ll be back to normal this weekend and back to work the next...

It’s Karla that I am most concerned about in all this. If she gets it then this household is screwed, lol.

Lufin, some Walgreens are offering the one hour test. We went to one and got ours back before we got home.

@Mik Thanks! I will keep that as backup for myself and Karla. I still want him to go to our Physician first... I imagine Karla and I will need to be tested once he’s clear.

Pfizer and Moderna's mRNA new type of vaccine.
Oxford University’s AstraZeneca, maybe even other vaccines that will be granted approval.

I don't understand, will people be given a choice as to which vaccine they would like? Are they the same in how they work?

I'd like the best vaccine. Which one is it?

Astra Zeneca's will be cheaper, unless Warp Speed has skewed the pricing mechanism (which is entirely possible). It is proven technology that is easier to transport and store.

Yep, but just for starters... How about if in-network physicians are “encouraged” to only provide 1 (preferred) option?

Frankly, most people won’t even know or care which vaccine they are getting.

Most providers will only get one kind, at least at the beginning.

I’m prepared to shop around to get the one I want, if I need to.
