A source familiar with internal discussions said Trump was telling allies he planned to run for president in 2024 and could announce it by the end of the year.

It would be interesting to see what kind of dynamic that would create.
You could see him remaining the party leader in exile. Not that McConnell wouldn’t make his own decisions, but Trump would still command allegiance from his base and therefore from lots of rank and file congressmen.

The good news is he (finally) seems to be indirectly admitting he lost this election, since that's the only way he could run in 2024.
