Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

It should be a good time to bring up my old saw - the addition of responsibilities to the conversation about rights.

Would you say that we have a responsibility not to needlessly endanger the lives of others?

I think that goes without saying. It's rather a foundation of society.

After reading the article, I'm left with the distinct impression that the writer is experiencing the culmination of a masturbatory fantasy that he has entertained for quite some time.

            I was only joking

Yeah, but you would say the same thing after reading the instructions on a box of Tide.

The point is that we have had it so good for so long, it has altered perceptions of the world in which we live. Historically speaking, we were living in an anomaly.

No, Phibes is right. This guy's happy about it. Which is a bit perverse.

                "Hey, just being honest!"

                Yeah, of course.

                Please love yourself.

Actually, I see why the writer thinks it's not a bad thing. Because of the times we were living in, we have been creating people with a world of narcisstic, petty problems. Self over all else.

The virus is a reset button, hopefully reducing some of the silliness.

That's not something to be happy about, but it is a positive aspect of a horrible situation.

Throughout the years the human race has demonstrated a genius for both amazing achievement and doing some really stupid shit. Covid-19 isn't going to change how stupid we are, although it might just change the details of the shit we engage in to demonstrate it.

                    WW2 - stupid shit
                    Spanish Inquisition - stupid shit
Burning old ladies at the stake - stupid shit

These occurred without people having the comfort of an easy life.

Now, a gang of youths mugging an old lady is also stupid shit, as are people being concerned about what the Kardashians are up to this week, however compared to WW2 I would humbly contend that they're not really that bad.

                    I was only joking
