BTW, Ronna McDaniel (RNC Chair) is giving her first interview since coming down with COVID. She got it from a family member.

That's how a lot of people get it.

Which is why we're keeping our distance from family members who swear up and down they're staying safe while they continue to work in bars, unmasked, and event arenas, unmasked. If that's living in fear I don't give a shit, find someone else to browbeat because I'm not changing my decision.

    Please love yourself.

Appropriate for the thread, I had a store employee show up on Sunday not feeling great. Sent him home immediately. One of the other employees that worked with him on Saturday immediately started having panic attacks and I home. That evening he sent out an email announcing that he has a 103 degree fever. You would have thought it was the end of the world. The employee having panic attacks nearly had to be hospitalized and has had 2 different tests (despite my reminding that person that they needed to wait 4-5 days before there would be enough time for any infection to grow enough to show up on a test) and nearly everyone has been in a panic.

Out of an abundance of caution, I shut down the store for three days and have repeatedly had to intervene with other employees panic attacks. I have even had to remind people about HIPAA requirements and it’s generally been 72 hours of hell.

As it turns out, the guy had a 24 hour bug, all tests have come back negative, there has been no symptoms or fever since Sunday.

So tell me which impacted my life and livelihood more this week, the virus or fear of the virus?

      This panic has to stop.

None of you are subject to HIPPA laws. That's one less thing to fear.

Well, my daughter's in school two days a week, and with friends two days a week, and my son's working at a department store, so if I get it the chances are it will be from them.

        I was only joking

There is no question that I have seen so many Covid aware compliant people subtlety let their guard down since April where they were completely locked down and lysoling everything and washing their hands at every turn to allowing different people in at different times to their bubble.

If they don’t return to April shutdown mode we will see spreader events like what we witnessed last week.

Knowing that what to do you bet?

I'm not. What do you see to indicate people are living in fear of COVID? I realize I live in a rural small town, so that skews what I will see locally. What are you seeing where you live, Jolly?

I'm pretty rural, too. But just seeing how some people act around here, seeing what CNN blasts out everyday, seeing how many people thought the end times occurred when Trump waved off of a balcony, seeing some of the things even written on this board...Well, it seems that some people are scared spitless.

That's no way to live life. The fact is that a person can only mitigate exposure to corona. You cannot escape it. Chances are very good, without a vaccine, you're going to get it.

So life your life. Be prudent, but do not live in fear.

Meh. We had a friend over for dinner tonight that we know has been very careful. Her boyfriend in PA has a son who just showed up with a fever, so she is not going there this weekend.

You do what you reasonably can to minimize risk, but there is no way to eliminate it other than totally isolating.

I do know people who haven't been into a store in over 6 months. I also know people who've been to weddings and caught Covid (thankfully it was mild)

My biggest problem is forgetting to do stuff - like forgetting to put a mask on, or leaving it in the house. I've got used to it. We were all really worried back in March, but now apart from the fact that we don't go to restaurants and I work from home, it's pretty much normal. I have no choice where I work, so it's really out of my hands. The office let's the lab staff work, and a skeleton crew of management, but everybody else has to stay home.

Cautious isn't the same as scared.

                                  I was only joking
