Head and neck cancer are horrible things. RIP guitar hero.

Yes, that's a tough way to go. But I think he had been dealing with this (off and on) for a long time.

@Larry and that was the reason his marriage to Valerie Bertinelli broke up.

But, in the context of history, so were Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, John Entwhistle and Prince.

              And countless others.

I was never a fan, but, as Phibes comments, I appreciated his talent.

He was a coke and alcohol addict. I can tell you that cocaine is the most evil substance known to man. Instantly addictive. It can take you places darker and deeper than anything I know. It's major effect is to make you want more cocaine.

Exactly. The first hit is always the best - and, from what I've heard, it's great.

The second is not quite as good, but...maybe if I took just a bit more...

Nah. Let me try that again.

It has to do with the physiology of neurotransmitter uptake.

                    Like chocolate, only better.

                    And with less weight gain.

                    I was only joking

I just read this bit of trivia: Before Eddie Van Halen became famous, he worked as a piano and organ delivery man for a music store in his hometown.

Meh. Mostly slab ranch houses. We had to take uprights and grands up and down circular staircases.

For some reason, Laurel and Hardy spring to mind.
