Watching Vince Gill do the Opry tonight and he's doing three songs in a row he's never done in public. The songs are tributes to different people...Right now, he's doing In the Ghetto as a tribute to Mac Davis (Mac died this week).

But as he started his set, he asked the people in the audience (yea! Live audience) to please bear with him. Since COVID, he has sung less than he has in forty years. And a strange thing happened to him...Vince sings a lot of high notes and he said sometimes he opens up his mouth and what he thought was coming out, ain't what comes out.

I guess vocal cords get rusty, too...

Vince Gill had Sierra Hull on his part of the show. She's talented. Don't know if you peg her as newgrass, or what...

Wow..that song is brilliant - so many styles and influences in one place. And her voice is marvelous.

Will have to look her up.

Must be terribly difficult for someone like Gill to experience that.

He's got a good sense of humor about it...Says he sings in the highest key of anyone in his house and everybody else is female. When he got the chuckle from the audience he was anticipating, he followed it up with the line, "Yeah, I know I sing like a woman, and I've got a really nice house because of it."😄

Listening to "25 Trips" album on Apple Music now. Interesting, unconventional, stuff. She certainly knows how to mix styles within one song. Sometimes it's jarring, LOL.

She did an old Doc Watson tune, where she swapped her mandolin for a guitar. Very talented guitarist, also.

Newgr or not, I’d definitely peg it.
