I sold a car to CarMax. Let me describe the car. It was a 2004 Subaru Forester with 180K miles on it. The car had a rusted out frame that made it dangerous to drive. It would cost $3,000 to fix the frame and the dealer would not give a waranty. The windshield was cracked. The rear gate had an open hole in it. The car was leaking oil pretty severely. The passenger side door was dented and the rear panels on both sides were rusted through. The rear gate lock was not functional. The CD player was broke. The upholstery was in poor condition. The hood was severely scraped as was the roof.
I didn't want to sell it to a private party for liability issues. I submitted photos and information as requested to CarMax - before taking the car there. Without seeing the car, CarMax offered me $1,500. I'd have taken $200. Needless to say, I love CarMax.

@kluurs , somewhere I read that CarMax spends about $1000 "rehabbing" a vehicle they buy - cleaning it beyond belief, making sure that everything mechanical is up to, no, beyond snuff.
As an aside, when I sold the BMW to the Audi dealership, there was a sign that "We'll buy your car, even if you don't buy from us."
So, I took my A6 to CarMax and got a price. With that paper in hand, I went to the Audi dealership and asked them if they'd buy it from me. They would, but their price was $3500 below CarMax's offer (again). I showed them the CarMax offer, and they said, "Hmm. No, we can't match that."
Next day, Mrs. George and I went to CarMax and sold the A6. Took about 20 minutes, and I walked out with a check.

No, I don't. I know exactly where it is leaking from on both sides. The AC works just fine. If there was a clogged up AC evaporator, there would be no AC. Also, it only happens when it's raining or in the winter when there is water/snow on the ground.

I will be selling it on Craigslist with full disclosure about the water leaks, or taking it to CarMax.
The dealer offered us $1,000 for it.
Very impressed with this car. It's quiet, smooth and compliant. Filled with the latest tech and has more "tech safety features" than any other car in its class and price point.
Excellent road feel and effortless driving. Very comfortable seats which are all manually operated. Nothing to break there!
The lane holding feature and adaptive cruise control is absolutely incredible, and is without a doubt, a life saving feature. I tested it out on I-90 for about 12 miles. It just follows the road like it's on auto-pilot. It keeps perfect distance between you and the traffic ahead. I drove almost 12 miles with the cruise control set to 72 mph and never touched the wheel or the pedals except to silence the alarm that told me to put my hands on the steering wheel. lol It followed every curve perfectly.

A nice Weather-Tech mat should prevent wet feet. It won't keep water from coming in, but there's a 2" lip on it that would keep your feet dry. When buying a car in that price range you are not buying perfection, you're buying how many miles can I get out of it reasonably reliably before it croaks.

It is not coming in from the bottom. It comes in from above your feet. You have to remove the dash to fix it. All it takes is strategically placed sealant to stop this from happening. There is a area where two pieces of sheet metal are seamed together and the seam is not water tight. It was when new but it needs to be re-sealed and it is a pain in the ass to gain access to it.

Congrats on the new car, Mark!
I really like the look: aggressive stance like it's ready to pounce, love the rims, they look like macho-strong. Wheels go great with the color, which looks like black from the picture. I don't know where you live, but hope it snows lots so you can have fun tooling around.I don't see anyone asking above, so how was the experience at the dealership? Did you have to put up with the usual ritual?

We love it!
The manual transmission version only comes with the 2.0 litre engine. Some complain about the 2.0 litre engine lack of power
The Sport and Limited editions come with the 2.5 litre engine, which provides 30 more horses and more torque.
The Sport and Limited have more safety features in the iSight driver assist system.

Well, you certainly put the "Utility" into SUV.
I never understood the need for these things (though I did own a Jeep for a while).
If you're going to haul shit, then, yeah.

Ixnay on the Jeep. Grand Cherokees are fine for 60K miles and very comfortable, but after that will nickel and dime you to death. The smaller ones are worse.
I'm very happy with my Nissan Murano, and it took a lot to get me away from Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus.
