Well, actually early morning...
A nurse I know who lives in Monroe with her two teenage boys and husband, was sleeping soundly Sunday morning. She was in bed by herself, her husband was at work on his rig down in the Gulf. She was sleeping hard, as she's been working a lot of twelves at St. Francis.
In the wee hours of the morning, she sat bolt upright in bed, with a horrible knot in her stomach and a feeling of dread. She threw the covers off and started shouting for the boys. Why, she didn't know, but she herded them into the basement. The weather which had been mostly rain and some wind, got much worse. She and the boys huddled in the basement bathroom, and all hell broke loose.
After what seemed like forever, it was finally daylight enough to see and the weather was good enough to come out. They had to dig their way out of the basement. When they finally got out, they gazed at what was left of the house.
No roof, except over the living room. No walls, except in the living room. Her bed was just as she left it, covers turned back, not further disturbed...sitting in a bedroom without walls or roof.
She sat on her living room couch with her boys, out of the rain, thanked God and cried.

I saw things like tht after the 1974 Xenia tornado. Huge houses with roof and front ripped completely off, and everthing inside in placd like a doll house.

So she could’ve remained in bed and would’ve been fine?

Her inner mom radar was working overtime. Good for her and the kids.
