That being said, I have some English friends who are ex-cops. 'Woke' is not generally a word that springs to mind.

I don't actually think these cops were "woke". This is a random awful mistake that happens to involve skin colors that make narratives. Which can be said for most of the opposite-direction narratives, like Floyd.

      Education is extremely important.

Yes, I agree. Of course, Nigel Farage is all over it like white on a Klan member just as people jumped all over Floyd's situation

I didn’t realize that. Sikh’s are anything but foul. Rather surprising.

Maybe take a moment off from slagging off the Pakis with your British chums and go look up what happened to Indira Gandhi (a rather foul Hindu, incidentally, if you listen to Salman Rushdie).

So, when you made an assumption about who the killer was, it was perfectly natural, but when the police made a completely different but equally wrong assumption, it was because they were hopelessly woke?

Not to mention the Air India bombing in the 1980s.

Usually though the Sikh underworld in this country is more akin the Sicilian mafia in the US, they’re too busy fighting one another than bother the general population. Sometimes though collateral damage arising from turf wars on the streets does occur.

Speaking as a northerner, we generally referred to them as ‘Wanker’

That's an interesting example of the use of statistics to sell a narrative. You'll notice there are no other Muslim names on the list, which implies that a high proportion of Muslim males are named Muhammad.

Incidentally, Mohammed is one of the two most common names amongst our engineers here at work, despite the fact that only 2 out of roughly 40 people are Muslim.

One way in which woke did play a role here, is in the narrative fashioned by the murderer's brother, after he finally called 911. He described it as self defense again a racial attack perpetrated by the white guy, and we have no reason to believe the dispatcher and officers didn't buy that unquestioningly, nor that that accepted narrative didn't affect their actions once they got onto the scene.

Another "woke" angle which seems indisputable to me in this case is the religious exception for big knives, which are otherwise illegal. I'm sure some say that that's not "woke", it's only respect for religion, but that holds water only to the extent that a similar exception might be made for the native majority white religion, if it had some holy weaponry that was otherwise illegal. In that case, the "woke" ideology would obviously squish any exception for the native white culture. I know that's a hypothetical, but I'm happy to allow those who reject that premise to do so, and tell on themselves that they are not connected to reality. Under no circumstance would the elite progressive western culture allow the common majority white culture to enjoy an exception over all the minorities like that.

Fucking J D Vance is a tool, blaming the murder on immigration FFS. His wife should have a quiet word with him.

His wife probably agrees with the fully contextualized quote.

Is the following the “contextualized quote” to which you refer?

"Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit," Vance said on X. "Each time a life like his is lost, the proper response — the only response — is righteous anger."

Sounds like more like harumpfing indignation directed at the populist rabble.
