New order at McDonalds
-
My kid was a gymnastics meet today, it lasted for a while so I went out and got them some happy meals for the family. Since I'm trying to catch @lufins-dad in the race to get fit, I googled how to order anything somewhat healthy-ish at McDs. Apparently you can just ask for patties (such as a quarter pounder patty) a la carte. Cost $1.50, so I ordered 2... Yes of course there is sodium and fat, but it's also just 400 calories and 40 grams of protein. Not a bad carnivorous lunch.
I've also heard of the Big Mac salad. Not sure I'll try it but basically you order the burger but request no bun but basically double all the veggies (lettuce, etc). It still comes in a Big Mac box but you can cut up the beef and shake it around and another similar lunch alternative.
Total side note... I did try the "David" protein bar now that the price has come down a bit. It's about $2.50 per bar...not cheap, but also much less than ordering a sandwich or coffee these days. It's 150 calories and 28g protein and gets 75% of calories from protein, anyway... it's really a good tasting protein bar with some of the most efficient protein-to-calories you'll find out there.

Yeah when you first open the bar it still has that protein bar "sticky" touch to it, but actually eating it... one of the least-bad protein bar consumption experiences I've had. I'll have one for breakfast now although lately I've been eating hard boiled eggs and an avocado.
