From former President George w Bush:

Laura and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Robert Mueller. Bob dedicated his life to public service. As a Marine in Vietnam, he proved he was ready for tough assignments. He earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart before returning home to pursue law. In 2001, only one week into the job as the 6th Director of the F.B.I., Bob transitioned the agency mission to protecting the homeland after September 11. He led it effectively, helping prevent another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Laura and I send our heartfelt sympathy to his wife of nearly 60 years, Ann, and the Mueller family.

Wait until Vance finds out. He'll probably lead the impeachment process himself.

Thanks for posting Obama’s and Bush’s posts about this. I don’t follow the news much these days and would’ve missed that. What a contrast.

The only country at war on two fronts is Ukraine. On one front it is fighting Putin for its very soul, on the other front it is battling Trump and his idiot minions for its continued survival as a sovereign territorial state.

I meant the Ukrainian/Russian front and the Israeli/Iranian front.
                    We being the UK, etc.

If you're 'helping' one side you're effectively at war against the other.

Fair point and in the post WWII real world order I would agree. However in the emerging world of personality driven transactional foreign and trade policy, there is now compelling evidence to the contrary.

@jon-nyc @renauda I dont disagree. But I am generally an optimist on people, and I think that a lot of them probably cringe a bit inside when they have to defend some of the things that President Trump says.

I know that there have been times (on a very much smaller scale) that I have had to go to outsiders and "defend" things from my boss(es) that I either did not agree with or were not quite correct.

Yeah I agree with that also he’s probably better than by potential replacement would be. I think I had a thread called ‘Poor Scott Bessent’ or something, it could have gone there.

I’ve been there too once or twice, in the end though that particular boss was gone not long after.

I am jaded, it is an earned privilege of being such as a 65 + senior who has seen just a bit too much over the years.

I worked for a truly awful boss for what was an extremely long 10 years between 2003 and 2013, and so I'm willing to cut people a little slack. After he'd gone I realised I'd been suffering with fairly significant anxiety issues for over 5 years. Other people had got it worse - some quit, at least one had to take medical leave.

We still talk about him now. His resemblance to the Lundberg character in Office Space was genuinely uncanny.

                                  I was only joking
