We had the ad cheaper version. Now they are designating some content as not available unless you are on premium. Those greedy bastards just keep tightening the screws on their customer base.

Yeah, we just dropped it. Notice that a lot of these paid services are starting to incorporate ads, too?

I have Netflix ad free. They have been pretty big in Asian programming, so for me, it is worth it.

A friend in the US has a VSeeBox. This somehow seems quite illegal, but.......

A vSeeBox is a streaming device that connects to your TV and allows you to watch live TV, movies, and shows without monthly subscriptions. It comes preloaded with apps and provides access to various channels and on-demand content.

I have a Netflix cheaper-with-ad subscription. It has been a very long time since I actually watched anything on Netflix. The few times I thought of watching something on Netflix, I quickly think "nah, I don't want to waste anytime on ads." The only reason I have not bothered to cancel it is because it comes "free" with another service that I subscribe to and actually use.

It’s perfectly legal. It’s the same thing as a Firestick or ROKU. The only difference is that its personal platform is open. So the user may or may not choose to install apps that may not be legal to allow you to stream content illegally. It’s no different than an android smart device or a windows PC, for that matter.

@LuFins-Dad Ah okay. Seems weird that the HBO, Paramount, etc. dont "encrypt" their streaming to prevent this from happening. I am guessing that they have thought about it, and it can't be done.

(I know absolutely nothing about how streaming works on a scientific basis).

Ha! Just cancelled it. I was under the impression Mickey was coming from Netflix. Should have thought a little harder.

I don’t know about Encryption, but you can use the device to have the actual HBO Max app, the same as any streaming platform… Smart TV’s, phones, PC’’s… You pay for the service just like normal…

Getting the illegal feeds are beyond me. I know they exist, but they exist on phones and PCs as well.

Finley’s a little beyond MM Playhouse, but he occasionally sees it and wants to watch. He’s smack in that in-between phase.

Netflix used to be where you can find any movie. Now it's hard to know which platform any given movie is on. I still have a normal cable box and DVR... I think I'm old and not cool like most neighbors these days that have cut the cord. We have too many streaming services... need to cut back.

I use Plex. It's a "free"--with ads streaming service. I don't think I ever watched a movie on the service but if you plug in the name of a movie you want to watch in its search engine it will tell you on what streaming service (if any) you can find it along with the year it was made, who was in it and a brief description. If there are more than one version of the movie it gives you them all (I recently looked up "Hamlet" and there were 30 versions.) It's a pretty handy feature.
