Ilia Malinin the quad king

Welp. Finally got to watch his performances in the Olympics. My wife and I watch most of the events (we record them on DVR) so finally getting through the first week or so of events.
Of course it was great to see him help deliver a key component to Team USA's gold medal for the skating team event. Honestly that was a great event to watch with various people on the team contributing.
Then his solo performance, the short program (first video below) then the long program (the 2nd video below) which combine for his overall place. He crushes it in the first, and I was very surprised of course to see him have an absolute nightmare performance for the long program. Poor guy. Handled it with absolute class though.
The 3rd video, during the skating gala at the end was really enjoyable to watch. Highly recommend.

What's a shame is he could've done triple jumps the whole time (he could do 20 of those easily in the routine) and won gold, but as @mik said he dared greatly and mentally choked (as he said). He has changed the sport, most male skaters now are expected to do quads if they want to win, and if you watch the last video he certainly brings joy/fun into the skate, which he said afterwards was his newfound perspective on why he skates.

Loser talk for losing. My son brings joy/fun into skating. And he does it for free. Coming in 8th after the sheer fiscal and time commitments invested into him? Ask his loser parents and sponsors how much joy and fun losing loser brought to them while skating to an 8th place finish. I could have lost at the Olympics for free. He lost costing millions…
Also, you contradicted yourself… You said he could have won gold just doing triples, then you said male skaters are expected to do quads if they want to win.

I know you're joking but I broke my funny bone, so to respond... he had such a strong lead after the short program and the other 2 people that might beat him (korean, japanese) both fell like idiots too, so with that room he didn't need to do the quads to win.
BTW... credit to the Kazakhstanian dude who won gold. Sure the 3 people in front of him choked, but winning gold isn't bad for a country known for Borat and probably not even having an ice rink.

You know, one thing that she and the skier that competed for China really drove home to me? The US makes the best Asian people… Our Asians are just better than Asian Asians in every way.

Screw Eileen Gu. I have a big (mostly for show) hatred for Americans who compete for other countries. Like Eileen Gu.... 100% American, california, competes for China because her mom. Or the pole vaulter record holder Duplantis...100% born and raised in Louisiana, accent, and all... competes for Sweden because of his mom, I think. FUCK THEM. It's bad enough most athletes in other countries live and train in the USA year round.

Yes, but can you deny that we make better Asians? I mean, she may be a traitorous turd, but she’s still a better skier than the others…

Not at all, we have heavily influenced your young adulthood and have made you American Adjacent! And even if that’s not quite as good, that’s okay! We’re still very accepting and gracious towards 2nd place!
Just not 8th… That’s Losing Loserville, right there. Maybe if Pelvis was Asian, he would have done better.
