They lost the both the world series and the gold medal by about about 2" (no joke). That must sting... like a winter wind.

Actually no, it doesn’t sting, at least not beyond the first hour or so. Nor do we consider either to be defeats.

In the case of the World Series, clearly the better of the two teams came out the victor. As for the hockey match, a hot goaltender and questionable officiating (the US team was, on at least one instance, not called for too many men on the ice) ensured we wouldn’t find the back of the net when it counted.

There will be a next time, particularly on the ice. I would describe it now more as an annoying itch from a mosquito bite.

        Haha from your state bird!

Fair enough. I told my wife after the hockey game that we'd win 2 out of 10 games, and luckily it was one of the 2.

I don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but you could have reduced that fraction to 1 in 5.

Look at it this way, Connor Hellebuyck plays for the Winnipeg Jets and will continue to play for the Jets with deserved honour and respect for the foreseeable future.

On the other hand, Brady Tkachuk has to come back to Ottawa and face his Senator teammates in the dressing room and every other Canadian enforcer and fan whenever and wherever he plays in this country.

Tkachuk will quickly learn the hard lessons of what we mean by “elbows up”.

I trust the reports that Canada was the better team, but that golden goal was some exceptional hockey by the Americans.

Provinces, 89th. Canada does not have states.

Brady Tkachuk, the Ottawa Senators captain and a Team USA gold medalist, said he didn't appreciate the AI-doctored video released by the White House that made it appear he was disparaging Canadians.

The video, published Sunday by the White House's official TikTok account, featured doctored footage from a Tkachuk brothers' news conference at the 4 Nations Face-Off last February. While "Free Bird," the goal song for Team USA, played in the background of the video, Brady Tkachuk was made to say, "They booed our national anthem, so I had to come out and teach those maple syrup eating f---s a lesson."

The clip, which discloses that it used AI-generated media, has 11.1 million views on TikTok and has been widely viewed on other social media platforms.
