Trump pardoned him for his felonies before nominating him, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he is the father of his son-in-law. It was probably nothing swampy like that at all, zero chance.

One quick question, have we heard why Kushner refused to meet with the Ministers?

      This:

A French official told The Hill Monday that Kushner did not show up to the foreign ministry when he was summoned, a breach of diplomatic protocol. As a result, Kushner is now denied meetings with French ministers.

He refused to a summons from the French Foreign Minister.

When summoned to by the host foreign ministry, a serving ambassador is obliged to comply with the order. That is understood and accepted diplomatic protocol.

Protocol is fine. And when broken it can be a very powerful message. I would like to know what the message they are sending is, and why.

I think we know if Harris was President we'd basically see a cruise control of what Biden was doing. In many respects, I think we'd have a similar economy as to what Trump has now, so to me that's a bit of wash. We'd have borders than are more open than they are now but also wouldn't have masked men kidnapping people and shooting people in the streets.

So really it comes down to, do you want the country moving slowly left on cruise control without blowing up diplomatic relations and without a garbage truck full of corruption and deplorable acts, or do you want the country moving back to the right but with all that the garbage truck of corruption brings?

At this point I'd rather have Harris and then hopefully get a much better conservative in office in 2028 to bring us back to the right and hopefully add some fiscal stewardship on top. As I said in 2016 when I didn't vote for Trump, I could never tell my kids I voted for that type of person and sadly that's one prediction that seems to have been reinforced by behavior x1000.

He did not comply with the summons. He was obliged to do so. That is how it works the world over. Full stop.

If you think that is the proper way to describe corruption in the Biden administration, what words would you use to describe the corruption of the current administration?

The whole reason we call them illegal aliens is because they’re subject to our laws.

I mean, sounds like it was a basic protest move. And you know what, I guess it will sort of work as it brings light to the antisemitism in France that is going unchecked. Whether he is right or wrong, who knows... but it's more protest than anything, it seems.

Correct, I would not say Biden had widespread corruption. Statistically, I'd wager there's at least a 2,000% increase in corruption in Trump's 2nd administration than Biden's. For example, when people talk about Biden they talk about $20 million in foreign deals because of the Biden name, whereas when they talk about Trump they are looking at around $5,000 million (or 5 billion). Like the Bears, it's not even in the same ballpark city state.

The France affair had nothing to do with anti-Semitism, rather it was the traditional right vs left:

Kushner failed to show up for a meeting at the ministry at 7pm on Monday to which he had been summoned after the US embassy in Paris reposted state department comments about the about the killing of a far-right activist in France….

Kushner failed to show up for a meeting at the ministry at 7pm on Monday to which he had been summoned after the US embassy in Paris reposted state department comments about the killing of far-right activist Quentin Deranque.

Kushner’s antisemitism crusade is against Belgium.

So the details seem to be that the US Embassy in France posted a statement online that left-wing violence was on the rise after a group of counter protesters beat a right wing protester to death. The French government didn’t like it, and made an immediate request for Kushner to attend. Kushner stated he wasn’t available due to a prior commitment and sent his deputy. There seems to be some question as to whether Kushner was in France just then to have been able to attend.

Now we can birch and moan all we want, but can at least be reasonably informed.

The convicted felon was complaining about rising violent crime in France.

The French have retaliated by pointing out that some Americans are starting to use a lot of garlic in their food.

                              I was only joking

That’s where the picture was taken. Actually, it was at the French Ambassador’s residence for a Bastille Day event.

@89th This wasn't basically a protest move. It is a deliberate strategy of undermining political stability.

The convicted felon was complaining about rising violent crime in France.

The French have retaliated by pointing out that some Americans are starting to use a lot of garlic in their food.

I think he's much more effective in this second term than the first. Like all presidents, he's done some things well and some badly.

Trump’s domestic policy is of little interest and/or consequence to me personally. Indeed, he is welcome to fuck over his own electorate with impunity, you folks elected him. On the global stage however his trade and investment policies are disastrous relics of a bygone era and are great consequence to me. His foreign policy too is rooted in romanticised past where might makes right and secret treaties are the prerogative and privilege of the powerful.

His proclaimed Donroe Doctrine is nothing but a revanchist claim to hemispherical hegemony (and possibly future territory) solely under his terms. Lord only knows exactly what he perceives as the boundaries of the USA’s sphere of interest but at this stage they appear unlimited. The unprincipled prick is no better than his stated “good friend” in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin.
