Things I did not know until today

I was not aware that Hoover Dam was such an enormous Art deco work. Awe inspiring in every way.

It's quite something artistically, aside from being an engineering marvel. I'll post some pictures.

I’m such a Philistine when it comes to architecture. I even visited Hoover Dam (Sept 2004?) and the Art Deco marvel of it never registered in my mind. Granted I was too cheap at the time to take the guided tour, your photos of the exterior display the artistic wonder of the project. I am at a loss as to why I don’t recall recognizing the aesthetic at the time.

We didn’t take the tour either, mostly because I despise guided tours.

That is a dam cool fact, though about the dam artistic aspect.

And I hate guided tours. Much too slow and boring. It’s like actually reading a self help book. 300 pages that could easily be condensed to a one pager.
