Behind the scenes Trump was probably saying he just needs to tell the American people (his) reality, and he's surrounded by so many boot licking sycophants that I doubt a single person advised him otherwise, so then Trump gets on TV and thinks he can bully his reality to the nation the way he does his inner circle. As @jolly might remind us here... it's the economy, stupid.
