Winter thoughts
-
Oh winter thoughts indeed. Currently feels like -19 here. I told my friends I moved here for the lower dew point in the summers, but man does that dew point get LOW in the winter.
My kids love the snow, although they hate the arctic THROAT PUNCH that is walking when it's negative-whatever.
Yesterday we went to the St Paul train depot, beautiful building, explored a classic locomotive, they had a nice european christmas market outside...and when you step outside when it's -5 or so, for a few minutes you think "you know, it's cold but not that bad" but after about 4 minutes suddenly your nose starts to bite, kids start to cry...it's a true exposure risk if you don't know what you're doing. So maybe my kids will be raised up not to be wimps, or maybe they'll get smart and move somewhere warmer (at least snowbird during the winter months) when they get older.
That being said, as someone who hates humidity and uncomfortable heat, there's a reason I chose to move to Minnesota over the south. I'll take Minnesota winters over southeast summers ANY YEAR.

2F here and headed for -2. Got 6" of snow yesterday. Hate it.
Sounds like a beautiful white Christmas!
Growing up in Virginia we had blizzards every 3 years or so, I had fantastic memories sledding and building ice caves almost every year. When I left it felt like winters there were near-freezing slushy freezing rain. Gross. Give me a blizzard or give me 50s!

It’s better than it seems. We were originally leaving Sunday of last week, not Tuesday. I was going to be there basically a week.
Then immigration plopped our green card interview on the calendar for Monday. Great news obviously but inconvenient timing. So my first trip went from being 6 days to being three.

Probably when I still believed in Santa Claus.
C'mon, spoiler alert, man!
