The Netflix-Warner Bros acquisition is of Paramount Importance
-
There weren’t any threads about it, but I assume that everyone is aware of the Netflix-WB acquisition, which is sending the entertainment industry and government regulators into a tizzy. This would really result in Netflix controlling over 1/3 of the streaming content available, and would also give Netflix considerable sway over broadcast and cable TV. This is one of those horseshoe political deals where Elizabeth Warren is screaming big corporations = evil, and MAGA conservatives are yelling that Netflix is going to gay up everything. It really is quite interesting, but now there is a TWIST!
Paramount is trying to pull a hostile takeover of WB, offering up $108 Billion considerably more than the $82 Billion offered by Netflix. Part of the difference is Paramount also wants Discovery, while Discovery was not part of the Netflix offer.
Get some popcorn!
I wonder if Robin Hood might not choose this time to muck around… -

Ellison is a trump supporter so I already know how this ends.

That reminds me of Steve Forbes (remember him?). He of course was the son of Malcom Forbes, the founder of the then-empire. He recognized the nepotism involved and once said in a debate something like ‘let’s just say I came to management’s attention rather early’.
