Chipotle, which I never eat, has been running frequent commercials for their new carne asada and red chimichurri. They looked really tasty, so last night at the end of a road trip we stopped at the local Chipotle to get some.

I have never in my life experienced the kind of heartburn where it hurts behind your breastbone. I've had reflux stuff, but not for the last 30 years or so. I have a digestive tract that is the envy of goats everywhere. Indians and Thais think we are crazy for how hot my daughter and I like things. Never a peep out of the tummy.

It was awful. thankfully a Tums fixed it, but it was quite surprising.

I told Janet that the Arby's commercials for steak nuggets looked pretty good, to which she replied, "You didn't learn your lesson last night?".

    She has a point.

I had Chipotle last night, tried the chimichurri... not sure what to expect, but definitely "meh". Felt like it was a cup of olive oil with mushed red pepper flakes in it or something. I enjoy their chips mostly, but like most fast food I feel like crap afterwards.

@jon-nyc yeah my mind is stuck on 2005 prices. I honestly think there's a $5 footlong deal at Subway and a dollar menu at McDs. Heck... even the local "Dollar Store", everything is between $1.25 and $5. But to answer your question... if you are on a budget, including middle class, you really shouldn't be buying fast food often. The prices are insane... I guess you can say the same thing these days about the movies, or toll roads, or concerts... everything just costs so much.

One of the challenges of being old is that It doesn't seem so long ago that two could dine out for breakfast for $20 - and now it's 60.

That's not a middle class attitude as much as middle-aged.

          Sorry.

          And welcome.

$51 is about average for two burgers ($16), tots($5) and waters ($3 a pop) for a not really fast food place. I paid $29 for three Wendy's combos, $32 for two Chipotle bowls, chips and guac. But any time we go to a sit down restaurant lunch for two is about $50.

Ugh, you spendthrift! The McDonald's here has a deal with local sports teams where, on the day a local team wins a game, McDonald's would offer a "free" BigMac with a $2 purchase. So, taking advantage of that deal, I have bought a McDonald's "Daily Double" for under $4 (itself a "McValue" item), and get a Big Mac too. That's two double-pattied burgers for under $4.

Not being paid not to work for 33 days now. Let me tell you about not leaving the house and saving all kinds of money I don't have. I have regressed back to my gaming days hobby. You know what I just now noticed about all these games I play? I am a cyber murderer and I like it! You should see the firepower I have in these games, various Call of Duty's, Doom's Grand Theft Autos, Red Redemptions, Painkillers, Serious Sams. Then there is Batman. I wish he was real cuz he'd fix America within a 2 hour movie span and without any guns! Batman is a badass.

                        Another great win with McDonald's:

Today, again, a local sports team wins a game, and the McDonald's here offers a "free" BigMac with a $2 purchase. This time, I picked a $3-something McChicken sandwich from the McValue menu, stack it with an "add one for $1" deal sweetener by adding a second McChicken sandwich (bringing my cost to $4-something), and qualified my purchase for that "free" BigMac. So I got myself two McChicken sandwiches and one BigMac for under $4.50.

Oh, I also get 2% reward from the credit card I used to pay or that McDonald's order.

                        WIN!

Ha... kids got happy meals last night and I saw the free big mac offer, but didn't add it as... I don't need an effing big mac. Trying to get in shape!
