Neville Chamberlain wanted to give in to Hitler. Now is the time to FIGHT, not to surrender.

Actually, Neville Chamberlain declared war on Hitler.
Hitler did use spray tan, though.

Oh. I thought he was used as a universal cautionary tale against appeasement of bad guys. But in a dunkaholics anonymous meeting, he’s the guy who declared war on the bad guys

No, but the Thanksgiving and Christmas family visits will be... a lot spicier when Uncle Jolly starts to rant.

Uncle Jolly can’t fly in without Air Traffic Controllers.

Halloween is here. Next will be Thanksgiving and then Christmas, and then retirement. I see this thing possibly running into the new year. I would feel sorry for Mike Johnson if i didnt want to punch him face first. The poor guy is the last line of defense to keep the Epstein files out of sight to America. Bringing the House back in session would mean swearing in the new arizona democrat who is the 218th vote needed to force a congressional official vote to demand the release of files. He cant keep this up for much longer and am interested on his next move. The shutdown in turn has been a nice diversion for him to take the epstein heat off. Why the hell the house is not in session where they should be whenever there’s a shutdown as should the president.. so he just goes up to the microphones every morning and blames the Democrats for a shut down and just pretty much lies about anything and everything with his Christian mug turning beat red every time. It’s his tell. The Democrats are playing the only card they got ad they’re the only humans in the building. It’s common knowledge that the Bill was going to let the ACA credits expire, causing people’s insurance to more than double. Did they purposely omit that?
Why would the Republicans do such a thing to their constituency? I think if you polled America , 90 % of them would demand they not expire. Why is Trump and company so dammed cruel? So now he threatens snap will stop tomorrow and 1 in 8 american people rely on it. I read that USDA has a good pot of money to keep it going, but Trump probably threatened this to try to force the Dems hand and give in.
They can’t give in when doing so would more than double most ACA recipients premiums. Republicans just plain hate Obama care because they hate Obama. They just wanna keep gutting it with nothing to replace it. They don’t give a shit about American citizens and their healthcare -

Not a universal cautionary tale but a simplistic interpretation of the historical facts that led to the Munich Agreement. Suffice to say that Chamberlain was left with a choice between dealing with Hitler alone as France would not involve itself militarily with Britain to stop the latter from invading Czechoslovakia, or inviting Stalin and the Red Army into Central Europe to stop Hitler that would inevitably lead to an even greater predicament of how to get Stalin and the Red Army out of the heart Europe once Hitler was pacified. Chamberlain chose the only rational option open to him under the circumstances.
And no, this thesis did not arise from a dunkaholics anonymous meeting.

Yes, a quick search for mentions of Chamberlain on this board establish that you and Phibes are both acquainted with the historical accounts that push back against Chamberlain's bad rap.
Mr NYC on the other hand is yet another vector of the historical misinformation, which my parody of a bluesky poster unfortunately fell for. Neither you nor Phibes pushed back on that one, but for all dunks there is a time and place.

Churchill was a Francophile and to the very end always believed France would do the right thing. Chamberlain on the other hand was a realist and knew France, despite the size and strength of its army, would not lift a finger to come to Czechoslovakia’s aid. The only other continental army remaining other than Germany’s, was the Red Army. Stalin was most willing to intervene on the side of Czechoslovakia provided either France or Britain would also mobilize against the Nazis. While the Royal Navy could have sailed against the kriegsmarine there was no British army to speak of in 1938 to even deploy onto the continent let alone march on Germany from the west.

The Red Army sure seems to have a hard time beating up the little guy when they want to take over their country. ukraine is Finland v2. If i am Nato i want both of them on my team. Tough mofos.

As Churchill so memorably said he chose dishonor but got war anyway. Not sure how to save his reputation from that.

IMHO Ramsey McDonald and Stanley Baldwin should bear more responsibility for the mess than Chamberlain. Both McDonald and Baldwin seem to be mostly forgotten in these discussions nowadays, but Chamberlain really inherited the shit sandwich that they had carefully put together whilst desperately trying to avoid conflict in the 30's.
