Yes, if you start with good quality chicken and brine them they can be quite tasty. I like to get air chilled birds.

I only tried chicken that way once and was bothered by the texture. It seemed undercooked even though I knew it was safe.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

@jon-nyc you eat pizza with a fork. It checks out that you need your chicken cooked to 170.

        Education is extremely important.

Sous Vide sounds so much more sophisticated than 'Boil in the bag'.

Then again, the Italians eat their pizza with a knife and fork, and they're so cool that they can say 'ciao' without being a complete twat.

I don’t really think the obesity epidemic could have actually gotten worse. There was really only one direction to go…

Yeah the market has changed. Does McDonalds even have the "supersize me?" option any more? Heck 15 years ago the only healthy option was basically "Subway... eat fresh!" (more on that below) but now there's plenty of healthy and protein-dense options out there in fast food land.

Subway...if you have a good memory, you'll remember I lost 60 pounds over 2 years during my bachelor days by eating the same 6" subway sandwich for dinner every night. It was delicious and did the trick. Also running a marathon, helped LOL.

The exact same one? No wonder you lost weight!

Haha yes, it was the club sandwich on wheat bread, with jalapenos. Also with it was a bag of those "thin" potato chips and a diet coke. Anyway, that meal was probably 500 calories. Combined with something similar at lunch and a normal "on the go" breakfast, and I was probably sitting at around 1500 calories per day. Over time that is easy math to lose weight.

Hey I'm at 219 this morning! Peaked at 232 on July 24 this year... goal is to get back to 175 in 2 years, and at least down to 200 by next summer. Nothing too fast.

Yeah, fast weight loss is not the goal - life modification is. Otherwise you'll just put it back on, plus more.

Have you considered the King Charles weight loss method (TM)? The well known 17th century English monarch lost 11 pounds of useless fat in less than a minute via a revolutionary life-modification, and never put back on another ounce.

True. When I got back in shape around 2009 I was able to stay that way for a few years, until maybe 2019 or so. What got me back from the 180s to 230 over the last 5 years is an excuse salad of... 1) eating like I was still working out, 2) not in my 20s anymore, or 30s for that matter, and 3) having the 3rd kid absolutely demolished any ounce of free time during the day and also getting up 1-2x per night with the kids meant I hadn't seen 8 hours of sleep in almost 7 years. That last part is finally starting to shift for me... going from a 5.5 hrs average to near 6.5 hrs lately, and hopefully closer to 7 hours a night soon as the kids get older. Like I said, excuse salad... did someone say salad?

I think you meant excuse burger.

                          Mmmmm.....burger.
