Where’s Jolly when I need him?

In any case is there a reason the battery went flat? Age? Lights left on? If the battery is relatively new and there is no apparent cause you might have an intermittent short somewhere (possibly in the ignition switch itself) that drains the battery. When you jumpered the system, the sudden jolt caused the spark and blew a fuse. In any case shorts like this can sometimes be difficult to locate without the proper diagnostic equipment.

Should not have sparked from the battery if it was connected properly. Check fuses first. Do you have a trickle charger with an amperage guage?

No trickle charger, not really needed for our climate and our cars don’t normally sit long enough for a battery to drain.
The quick start charger has a gauge that shows the quality of the connection and it was solid green…

Is anyone else a little concerned that Renauda actually might be Jolly?

@Mik , get the Hulkman Alpha85. I have used it to jumpstart compact car as well as minivan. I am quite confident that with one full charge I can jumpstart a Honda Odyssey three times over. And it holds a charge very well, starting from a full charge, I can go a year without recharging and still expect it to jumpstart a car. Compact too, using lithium ion battery.
