I agree. You should DM him and let him break the news.

I sense a setup, Ax. Be careful and wear your dissproof vest.

Imagine if Woodward and Bernstein had backed off because they were scared of a setup.

Mark Felt would have called someone else.

Now imagine if Mark Felt were running a Nixonian sting operation?

When Bill Murray read the book Woodward wrote about his friend John Belushi, his immediate reaction was that Nixon was set up. Simply because Woodward got so many things so very wrong, and was just pushing his chosen narrative.

I don't mean to impugn Ax's journalistic integrity by comparing him to Woodward.

Entertaining banter in this thread. Here I am to ruin it with a serious post.

Is Trump better than Kamala? I honestly don't know. I mean, I like most of Trump's policies but they are like a nice piece of conservative steak wrapped in rancid fish that degrades the very traditions and respect of the restaurant. What am I willing to overlook for the steak? I don't know what the economy or immigration would look like under Kamala, but am disgusted at the promise to deport illegal criminals and instead watching moms and dads getting rounded up as they wait to pick up their kid from elementary school.

If you made me pick right now, I'd rather have Kamala than Trump. The petulance, lazy policies like DOGE, and swampy wanna-be king antics is just too rancid for me. Not that it matters, it'll be Vance vs (Newsom) in 2-3 years.

It would be funny watching Vance effortlessly command the adult-in-the-room high ground, if Newsom continues his Trump persona.

Trump and Kamala are differently bad. It depends on what relative value one assigns to their respective areas of badness.

Also a reasonable question is who’s badness is more permanent vs reversible.

On both of these there’s no mystery where I net out.

Nah, when the time comes, I encourage you to announce your change in position yourself. No need to wait for any one else to announce it for you.

Non joking take? There are a few hard lines of just frigging humanity. Not policy, not global positioning, not tax policy. Just what the nature of reality and humanity are. The democrats have so completely obliterated that line and are so far beyond it, that there is simply no reconciliation in my mind. The complete usurping of Parental Rights, the fact that it’s a firm policy that school fucking administrators are being given permission to withhold medical information from parents and guardians? Hard stop right there. Everything else becomes unimportant. Until that gets rectified, I have no interest in any of your opinions, views, or stances.

Funny when you started with the humanity route I thought you were going to surprise us with your conclusion.

Btw I’m totally with you on the parental rights and school confidentiality crap.

I imagine schools feeling empowered to subvert my parental authority would galvanize me too, if I was a parent.

I agree it’s out of line. Nice people viewing affirmation as an act of kindness rather than a psychosocial intervention potentially subject to iatrogenic harm. And one that puts them on a path often leading to chemical sterilization and lifetime medicalization.

But it’s not clear to me what effect the 2024 election has had on the number of districts that do that.
