I’m sure some political commentators disagree. Here’s one that agrees with my read:

    https://thehill.com/homenews/media/512474-foxs-chris-wallace-lauds-michelle-obama-convention-speech-really-flayed-sliced

Chris Wallace is a democrat, and dislikes Trump. I've never cared for his opinions. He can always be counted on to kiss an Obama's ass. Michelle Obama's goal wasn't to help Biden, it was to get even with Trump for undoing some of the damage her sorry assed husband did when he was in office. It was a revenge speech.

Now let's look at some facts: the Obamas refused to endorse Biden until just recently. At the same time Barack Obama was finally delivering his weak endorsement, it was leaked that privately he thought Biden wasnt fit to be president. It was also revealed that for the entire 8 years Obama was president, the Obamas never socialized with the Biden's, didn't really like them. Michelle didn't even care enough about Biden to deliver her speech live. To get her to say anything at all they had to go to her at her convenience and record it, which she recorded before Harris had even been picked for VP.

Chris Wallace also gushed over Michelle's famous "for the first time in my life I am proud of my country" speech. So it doesn't matter that out of the long list of clowns the DNC chose to speak Michelle Obama was the only one capable of giving a speech, she can't escape the fact that neither her nor her husband like Biden, neither of them think he is fit to be president, and the only reason they showed up right at the last minute to "endorse" him is because they have to support the democrat party. Once this week is over you'll not see Michelle helping Biden again.

More of a general question, not specific to above or for just @Larry

But, does anyone really base their vote on if someone endorses President Trump or endorses Vice President Biden?

I have often wondered when some semi- famous person says that they are endorsing Candidate X. It certainly does not make me all more excited. LOL

Like Larry said, President Obama did not endorse VP Biden until the last minute when he was the only one. Senator Cruz was against President Trump, but then he was for him.

I dont get it, but maybe some people, it has some influence.

The difference is Cruz was running against Trump. Obama was not running against anyone, much less Biden.

One can easily imagine a celebrity with a large following of young people having an effect on those followers in both who they vote for and whether they vote.

Seems kind of goofy, but I can understand it (I guess).

Senator Sanders after loosing nomination to VP Biden
            "VP Biden is the best"

In Senator Sanders mind, did VP Biden improve dramatically over a couple of months? LOL I dont think so.

If we believe him then, why should be believe him now?

Same with Senator Cruz and President Trump.

In primate cultures, the lower rungs of the hierarchy imitate the higher rungs. Especially to young people, celebrity heroes are the quintessential upper rung. The cool-makers. The left is devoted to attempts to make its politics cool. I think the right has sort of given up on that angle and trusted the ravages and wisdom of age to do its work on enough human minds.

It's not the same between Obama and Biden. It simply does not work that way in politics.

True. But I have heard that there is a small but growing sense that being on the right is "cool."
The problem with the term "conservative" is that it is somewhat synonymous with "constipated" with all the other associations e.g., old, old-fashioned, dad or grandpa's perspective, square, dirt farmer, hick, crew cut, on and on.

There is, of course, the tendency for the young to go against the grain, "the Man" and confidently if blindly support the alternative, whatever it might be.

And, there is enough social discourse about "brainwashing" of young people in K-16, so that perhaps there is a tendency to hear that word and then consider for oneself whether it is/was true. If the answer in reflection over time might be true, then I predict there will be a rather rapid movement towards the right, especially if teachers cannot spew their administratively imposed bias behind closed doors, out of earshot of parents (and, center or center-left / center-right teachers will just know to shut up).

Or, Biden wins, and the republicans fade away, never able to be elected into majority positions pretty much anywhere.

I wish that N Korea goof would lob a nuke somewhere. That would unite everyone that matters. Kinda extreme though.

Seen on twitter: Did anyone notice what the Democrats didn't bring up during the convention?

They railed and railed against Trump but ignored a piece of history:

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

                        https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2020/08/28/television-ratings-democratic-convention-edge-out-republican-convention/

“Across their respective four nights of programming, the Democratic convention averaged more than 20 million total viewers per night in the 10 p.m. spotlight viewing hour, compared with 17.4 million total viewers for the GOP convention.“

The TV viewership numbers are in. The Democratic National Convention has won the TV viewership comparison.

If I had to guess today I would say Trump will be re-elected. But September 2 to November 3 is an eternity.

                                          Just like 2016.

Every freaking election is the same here. I remember Larry congratulating President Romney on his wonderful victory.

One of the few mistakes I've made in my life....
