Even FoxNews is semi-adhering to the talking points in their news coverage. Here they say the sticking point is extending ACA subsidies which ‘republicans say will fund illegals’. (It doesn’t. Illegals don’t qualify).

No mention whatsoever of restoring Medicaid cuts. Seriously the word ‘Medicaid’ doesn’t even appear in the article.

Yesterday, I saw a “Proud Federal Worker” and “Support Federal Worker” bumper magnets on a $95K Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. You’ll excuse me for not getting overly concerned about the poor federal workers.

Meanwhile my friend (single mom living in not the best area) who works for the department of labor and doesn’t make the big bucks is negatively impacted. But your disdain for federal workers is consistent at least!

A former poster here uncritically regurgitated bizarre GOP talking points about the shut down. He seems to actually believe them.

It’s guys like him who need the sanity check TNCR can provide.

        Sad.

Come-on man, can we discuss the bizarre shit that current posters have posted elsewhere? Erika Kirk has not been kicked out of Romania for child trafficking…

Smells like NS. I'm betting NS. I mean, who else could it be.

Try asking me about it in a month where we didn’t just send in a pretty hefty quarterly tax payment for M&M’s business.

You realize federal workers will get paid for no productivity during this period? It’s like a delayed paid leave. What a waste.

Oh no. It’s a government shutdown. So unprecedented. It will be the fall of the republic. A pox on both your houses.

These always worked out badly for the party that was trying to use the threat of a shutdown to enact a preferred policy rather than support a ‘clean’ CR.

For (I think) the first time, it’s the democrats in that role.

We’ll see how it works out for them.

They should have been more creative and said ‘the democrats want to kill all the nation’s puppies and kittens’.

I mean, if you’re going to just make something up from whole cloth, why not swing for the fence?

@LuFins-Dad time to set up a gofundme... as of 11am I cannot work (I'm a federal contractor), and do not get back--pay when the government re-opens. Time to tell the kids we're rationing the milk starting tonight.

On the plus side, I do have a garage slatwall project I've been meaning to get to!

Well that’s just ridiculous. We all know the Democrats love puppies and kittens. It’s babies that they want to kill.

Sorry to hear that. If worse comes to worse, I understand that we’re short on agricultural workers… That might help tide you over.

My guess is Elon turned them off for his people.

He complained about them a while back and said he’d ‘fix’ it.

                                Grok’s take:

As we discussed before, notes on high-profile conservative accounts (Vance, Musk, etc.) often underperform or vanish, per studies and user reports—potentially due to algorithmic tweaks, rater demographics, or manual intervention.
