    That’s fantastic. I’m on the same journey. The trick is to not feel deprived, which I don’t. I actually prefer healthy food.

        Nice job @Horace and @Mik and others. I agree about the healthy food... it really does taste fantastic, whereas a big burger or a bunch of pizza tastes great in the moment but I feel so lethargic afterwards.

        I'm down about 10 pounds since August 1. Started at 232, trying to get eventually to 185 over the next 18 months or so.

          I've tried to stop focusing on weight, and try to just eat well most of the time, exercise most days and cut back on the weekend alcohol, although the last one is with limited (i.e. no) success.

            Yeah, but it's a big step forward from daily alcohol. I'm down to wine or maybe a beer two nights a week. It sucks big donkey dicks helps a lot. Down 43 since March. I've definitely packed on some muscle too, but I have no idea how much. 39 reverse pyramid sets three times a week and a half hour cardio on off days.

              I had not read that. I should probably get tested just for grins. Do you think it's made a difference?

                    I remember doing the InBody thing in my 50s. The results helped motivate me.

                      I think it has made a huge difference for body composition. You can exercise harder and recover faster, which alone would produce benefits, but beyond that, the T just makes your body produce/maintain more muscle.

                      Testosterone clinics are popping up all over, I guess in your area too. I do recommend having labs done while you do it. I'm also on an estrogen blocker because that'll go up as T goes up, and you'll want to do something about that.

                        Thanks Blondie! It's fun to see the numbers, beyond the weight. My bathroom scale with the electrodes at the feet but not the hands is still telling me I have 30% bodyfat, but the more accurate InBody machines are telling me 21% now. I hope to get to 15%, which I hope will happen at around 250 pounds. I'm 53.

                            My local T clinic has one that I use for free. My gym also has an EVolt that members can use for free. It's a scale with electrodes at the feet and hands which gives you fat and muscle measurements, beyond just weight. There are cheap home versions that just send current through your feet, but they are very inaccurate.

                              Turns out my health system’s fitness place has one I can use for $30. Cheap. Wish I’d gotten a baseline since I know I’ve put on several pounds of muscle over the past couple years.

                                  I do too, but the birth certificate does not lie.

                                  I don't feel 70, whatever that's supposed to feel like. Good eating, lots of exercise, brain exercise too, social life, interests and a great part time consulting gig that I will keep 3 MORE years if possible and I'm set for another 20.

                                    Good for you. My mother in law is 73 and goes to the YMCA 5 days a week. The group classes or walking the track or just chatting with friends… her physical and mental state are sharp as a tack. A good role model.

                                      Sounds like a lot of good work and great news. Over the past 3–4 years, I’ve found that my running has really taken a hit. In my early 60s, I was running really well, with only a slight decline. These days, it takes a while to get my legs moving. I still run track on Wednesdays, but I’m only at about 20 miles a week. Back in the day, I’d do that on a single Saturday—but I’m fine with it now, especially since many of my friends no longer run.

                                      I do an online Pilates class 4–5 days a week and serious lifting 5 days a week. As for food, I was more disciplined a couple of years ago, but my spouse definitely influences what I eat.

                                      My one indulgence is the frozen chocolate-covered strawberries from Costco. I’m working on increasing my protein intake compared to other foods. While my weight is probably about 10 pounds over where I’d like it to be, I haven’t worked too hard to bring it down. You folks are inspiring me.
