The entire undergraduate class in the US (with tiny exceptions) was born since then. There are people defending their PhD theses with no memory of the event itself.

I was born in 82, less than 10 years since we were walking on the moon, yet to me it’s a distant historical event. Kids who are entering high school now are further removed from 9/11 than I was to the moonwalkers.

I was 10 months old when the first moon landing happened yet it seems remote to me since I don’t actually remember it.

I remember the (alleged) moon landing. I must be old. In fact I even remember JFKs funeral. I was five and I remember we were let out of of kindergarten during the funeral to watch on tv. A very early memory which is vivid.

I remember the day he was shot. I was 8 and home sick from school and listening to the radio in my parents' bedroom.

I remember when JFK was shot. I heard about it getting on the bus to go home from school. I think I was 9. I was standing in line.

As far as 9/11--I was in my office in NYC on the East Side (the old Wang Labs building on Lex,)--my wife was on the 44th floor of the American Express tower in the World Financial Center right under the WTC. We had a "plan" that in case of a blackout, etc. she would walk home to our apt. on 56th St. on the west side of 6th Ave and I would meet her along the way. It worked out ok but the fun of living in NY was gone.

BTW, the best reporting on what was going on at the WTC came from Howard Stern. He had lots of his listeners on the street calling in with on the scene reports.

It really feels like we’re moving past it being a real day of remembrance. I had a Chamber Meeting this morning, a board meeting this afternoon, and I’m taking Finley to a Trail Life meeting this evening. It wasn’t too long ago that any groups would have scheduled something on this day.

I think you are right, especially since we are out of Iraq and Afghanistan for the most part.

Next year will be the 25th anniversary so maybe more attention but after that it’ll start to really fade, unfortunately.

@89th Time does that. After 25-50 years, it becomes history rather than an actual event.

I flew this morning and didn’t see or hear anything. A couple years ago there was a moment of silence at LGA at the time the first plane hit. Granted this morning my flight was at 6:10 so maybe they still did it.

I was at RDU at 8am and saw nothing.

I flew out of Boston today too, yes Boston on 9/11. Funniest part? There was an employee there whose name tag said “Osama”. No joke.
