Instead of letting fresh herbs die in your fridge, freeze them covered in olive oil.

This will sound sacrilegious to some, but bacon freezes well. Roll strips individually and wrap them in a bit of plastic wrap, then put the lot of them in a bag. Then you can always grab a slice or two for a recipe.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

If you are on a long road trip (in the US mainly) and have to take a bathroom break, dont go to a gas station or fast food restaurant. I am sure that there will be a hotel nearby, and just use their lobby bathroom. Much cleaner and much less crowded. I can speak from personal experience that it works well. LOL

When you’re in Europe and use an American credit card, the machine often gives you the choice to pay in Euros or Dollars. Choose Euros. Your bank likely has a better exchange rate than they’ll offer.

Relatedly, you’ll do better getting Euros out of an ATM than you will exchanging money. (Generally)

In addition to what Jon says above - many credit cards offer 0% foreign exchange fees. If you buy something in Euros, they will convert to USD at the exact real exchange rate.

Re: Foreign currency ATM's - I have a Schwab debit card that I use to get foreign currency. At the end of each month, Schwab returns to me all ATM transaction fees, and their foreign exchange conversion is real. There may be some others that do this on foreign ATM's, but I think Schwab is the most popular.

          5 minute tasks

If there is something that you needs to be done, and it can be done in 5 minutes or less, DO IT RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT.

(This has actually helped me. Many times, I have some simple task, and I tell myself, "Oh, I'll do it later" and then it never gets done! LOL)

That's a good idea. With young kids it's usually finding the closest spot (or for my son, just pull to the side and water those weeds!) but I like the hotel idea. Hey, maybe grab some free hot breakfast while there!

Absolutely. Far too often I'll finally do something and it'll take only a few minutes, but I waited for weeks.

Here's one for the married folk.

In the interests of harmony, rather than constantly pointing out all those minor irritations which can often lead to non-stop bickering, carry a note-book with you and make a note of all the times your spouse, children or even in-laws do something that irritates you.

Over the Christmas holiday after you've had a few drinks during dinner, pull out the book and list all these irritations, possibly in order of importance, and make suggestions for the coming year how things could be improved.

Trust me, this sort of thing works wonders!

                I was only joking

Odds are you will never need the below, but just maybe............ LOL

If you are expecting a phone call and running out of battery on your phone, change your voice mail message to address that person.

(Or if you are somewhere (broken down car) for example and running out of battery, change your voice mail to your location, etc.)
