    As a thread drift...

The market is starting to winnow out the crappy tests, at least in the clinical labs subject to CLIA 88. The problem is the tiny doctor office labs, where the people performing the test are not labortorians. The mainline labs are still subject to method comparison, precision, accuracy, etc. The docs plop it on the counter and call it good.

      Two points:

I agree with Jolly and Mik. If she hasn't seen him for months, I would not think there would be urgent on her part to see him right now, especially will everything going on.

Second - University of Illinois has got approval for a saliva test they developed. Appears to be much easier then the "sticking the stick up your nose test"

      Saliva Test Approved

It's approved under the Emergency Act. I've seen some absolutely shitty tests approved under that act, then later yanked from the market.

          Don't fall for the bally-hoo.

Asymptomatic? Or did he develop symptoms? What was the reason for taking the test in the first place? Has he had a followup test to make sure that he's clear?

I would not trust the friend either.

My kids are adults as well. But they live with me and I fully support them. If I told them not to go to a party, I fully expect them to not go to a party.

A friend had a child go away to camp. 300 tested positive for Covid. 12 had symptoms, none for more than a day or two.

This is what is going through young people’s minds.

My concern wouldn't be him. It would be everybody... Chances are good that at least one of the other party-goers was exposed to him since he was originally infected or was exposed to whoever infected him originally...

Of the set of all humans who have told me they're doing shit like that in a "totally safe" way, the subset of those humans who have actually kept their word continues to be null.

                          Please love yourself.
