As much as I liked both bands, they were of a time and place that cannot be repeated.

Yeah. They should have invested their money better.

My wife and I often comment when we see "old" bands still trying to play... most of the time, it's awkward and been long overdue to bow out gracefully. This is a great example of that.

Though my son likes music from my era and beyond so when he gets a chance to see ZZ Top (last year) or Clapton (September) it’s a cool thing.

Somehow it's different when it's an old guitar hero. I went to see both aging BB King and Buddy Guy twice and they were truly great. Old-fart Devo is just ridiculous.

Agreed I saw Buddy Guy at his club in Chicago.

One of the Buddy Guy gigs was a bit weird. He was clearly dissatisfied with himself, and stopped playing in the middle of a solo saying 'this is shit', and then just started a different song. He did this a few times. It sounded pretty damn good to me, but I guess he wasn't happy.

Funny, saw Buddy Guy with my dad a few years ago too. I agree "old guy" music still works if they play the guitar.

Plus they've still been out there and getting after it for all these years. One cannot say the same for such novelty acts.
