One which I had today: beef tongue.
It's very high quality low-fat meat. If cooked well, you can almost cut it with a spoon. The recipe we use is similar to this one.
Another one I like: Pumpernickel (the German variety - 16h of baking! - which is quite different from the bread that is sold in North America with that name). It goes amazingly well with smoked eel, for instance.

When I was a child living in Germany, I used to love what were called 'Rollmops'. They were long strips of (I think) pickled herring rolled around a piece of sour pickle and secured with a toothpick. Yum!
Are they still available, Klaus?

Canned salmon.
(I get the non-crap, higher quality stuff - like wild Alaskan). I just find it to be a super easy and good-for-you mini-meal.

The world is filled with foods with bad reputations that I quite enjoy. Cafeteria foods, greasy spoon diners, gas station hot dogs. But claiming not to like that stuff is more virtue signal than reality so I don’t really think they qualify as unpopular.

A lot of greasy spoon/family restaurants have great food. There's no fois gras or wine list but there is a lot of great biscuits and gravy.
No chef I have ever met could outcook my beloved MIL. That woman knew how to COOK.

Can’t think of any although a surprising number of people seem to dislike black licorice. I don’t get it.

Love black licorice. I’d say 80% of people I’ve asked said they hate it.

I like black licorice too. Always pick out the black jelly beans first and no one minds.

Black licorice is unpopular? I don't think I know anyone who doesn't like it.

Of course. It's very traditional to eat it for breakfast if you have a really bad hangover.

Clearly there’s an association with intelligence and enjoying black licorice.
