So this happened today

I think there are some good candidates in the northern part of Westchester but we'll probably do that this Saturday and Sunday. From his initial 10m attempt I'd say we need to practice cornering, breaking gently and accelerating gently. We can do a lot of that in my neighborhood.

Don't forget this winter to take him to a big icy parking lot and make him get into some skids. It builds muscle memory.
Also, I DRILLED into my daughter that distance = time, time = safety. Think Clockwork Orange therapy for young drivers. Also drill him on the exceptionally miniscule time you save by speeding. Traffic school was good for me in that they focused on that.

Stay safe.

Glad my kids aren’t near driving yet. Not sure how you can handle the stress, both from teaching them and also knowing how many idiots are out there.
Not that anyone cares but my first two thoughts when thinking about what I’d teach my kids (other than the basics and getting comfortable driving) are:
- Always be predictable to other cars
- Always know you can slow down and take your time and other cars will (usually) just go around you
