My guess is that this forum has run its course. I understand the psychological succor some of us find in constantly writing about our contempt and hatred for Trump and Trumpism, but it's also ok to understand that that is a personality characteristic that has less to do with an objective reporting of the facts, and more to do with how fun it is to live in that reality of constantly expressed contempt. For everybody else not so resonant, it's tedious and painful to live there alongside those who want to live there. Like any relationship, if one person wants to complain constantly, the other person will grow tired of it.

Most of it seems to be outrageous fantasy.
But even if it is all true, this place is sick.

I can remember a time when the constant ranting was directed at a certain “two bit thug” and his wife; the opportunist extraordinaire, Mrs. Clinton and; a doddering and senile “Resident” and his crime family.
So what’s your point or, like all MAGAt types, do you really have nothing to say other than play the victim?

You will frame it that way, you will post about that framing, hoping it bothers some historically entrenched foes, and very few of them will choose to play the game. All of these decisions are reasonable and predictable. Nobody's getting paid to be here, and nobody is going to choose to compete with you in who is more compelled to establish dominance on TNCR. You're right that Trump has made defending him untenable, but from there, we have to consider whether the few dominant posters left are really just here to bother people and get some catharsis for their long held hatreds. I know that that catharsis won't be there, without the feeling that others are bothered. People can choose to make you live with it, by simply leaving.

We’ll know Jolly views Trump as a success if/when he starts posting again.

I suspect he considers Trump a success at this very moment. He's just doing so elsewhere. Personally, I don't think it's a done deal that Trump is worse in the long run than the Harris machine would have been. He has certainly been worse for the economy, as a snapshot now compared to what it would be under Harris. But it's still possible that we'll get a Trumpism cultural direction, without a Trump detachment from reality. Like, no tariffs, and gentler ideas about international trade, like maybe so gentle that they actually coincide with a real appreciation of capitalism. An apology to the world in a post-Trump era for how dumb the trade stuff was, would probably go a long way too, but that may be a bridge too far for anybody brought up in the Trump GOP. We'll see. Trump has left lots of good directionality in his wake, even as he plows forward sometimes insanely.
Education is extremely important.

It’s not a zero-sum game. It’s definitely not all or nothing. I have profound disagreements with this administration, and can still honestly say that I believe it strongly beats the alternative that was offered.

I think it’s more about seeing where people lie on the principled - tribal - cult member scale. There are plenty of us here who regularly, even brutally, criticize the people we voted for. And there are some that aren’t made that way.

Hm, it was pretty common last election for people here to avoid even admitting who they voted for. In order to avoid uncomfortable things like that. And it is not true that anybody is as free with their criticisms of their preferred party, as they are with the party they hold in more contempt. Nobody is free from the dopamine hit of relaying an anecdote that confirms their political choices.

I do try to introduce other things. But Trump does seem to suck up all the oxygen everywhere. Personally I’m tired of it already and willing to see where it goes once the PT Barnum wears off. Much of what he says is mere distraction anyway.
