The popsicle was invented by an 11 year old kid named Frank Epperson. He left a glass of water with soda powder and a stirrer outside overnight and discovered it the next morning. He started selling it around the neighborhood then at a local amusement park. Years later he changed the name from Epsicle to Popsicle because his children called it popsicle.
Additional Fun Fact - @Axtremus would have had his neighborhood and amusement park stands shut down because of no business license.

M&M stands for Mars and Murrie.
Forrest Mars (son of the Mars Company founder) first spotted the British confection Smarties during the Spanish Civil War and noticed the candy shell prevented the chocolate from melting. He teamed up with Bruce Murrie (son of Hershey Chocolate's president) and the company later trademarked the "Melts in Your Mouth, Not in Your Hand" slogan.

HEY!
I'm not sure, but was that a dig at our forum leader and best pal, Ax?
If so, not appropriate. Sure, Ax was a carnival barker for years, but that was before he got all conservative and became a lemonade stand compliance officer. Good 'ol Ax has mellowed over the years, he even dropped his gender lawsuit against using the term "Pop"-sicle. -

In fairness it’s the candy coating that melts in your hands. Not the milk chocolate.
So they’re correct.
