    Oh, and interesting how many ended up in Europe. Or at least are said to have done.

                  @jon-nyc When Judas committed suicide his place was taken by Matthias. His authenticity always has been doubtful.
                  Paul is #14, but he never met Jesus in person.
                  Roman Catholics are inclined to take 12 apostles into account, and add either Matthias or Paul.
                  The orthodox church officially recognises 70 apostles.

                    Thanks. From what I’ve read Paul did the most to spread it, at least to power centers of the time. I don’t think I knew he wasn’t among the original crew.
