Happy Draft Day

Played around with the simulator this morning…
I was torn between taking Nolen or Kenneth Grant in the first. I believe Grant is just a beast that isn’t just a NT, but can kick outside. But ultimately, Pittsburgh needs 2 DL and I like the later NTs than the DEs. Collins can defend the run as good as Grant and Nolen has better pass rush juice.
Shough is my favorite QB in the class. He can feel a Rudolph role. Maybe develop into a starter or be a quality backup.
We need a quality swing tackle, and I’m seeing the comp game picks that come with O-Line…

All this speculation. I'm content to see what they all actually do.

So the Steelers pass on a QB, and the Bengals pick a low performing, high potential edge rusher. The fans here are not amused. Saints pick a very solid tackle.

The Steelers didn’t pass on a QB, there just weren’t any first round QBs available when they picked at 21.

I can see not making Sanders a number one pick. Too much of his dad in him. Don't need prima deions.

Plus, DL is an absolute must. It’s a strong class, but there were 3 real difference makers in this class, Harmon, Grant, and Nolen. Harmon was the one Steelers wanted, but were expecting him to be off the board. This was a win.
People forget that Pittsburgh was 10-2 before a 5 game stretch in 3 weeks. Better run defense and a little better QB play would have put us in contention even with that murderers row over the last 3 weeks. Well, our run defense just got better and our QB play should be better with Mason or even Rodgers. Adding on Metcalf gives us a dangerous WR tandem no matter who throws the ball, and will open up the box to help our running game.
I want us to take a RB, a big cheeseburger eating nose tackle, and maybe a CB prospect. Maybe a project QB, but next year’s going to be a great freaking class, and Pittsburgh has 4 comp picks ready to trade up for Arch…

A Manning in Pittsburgh. Hadn't thought of that.

As i said about Prima Deion...
"The only people who seemed confident Sanders would be a top 10 selection in this draft were Sanders and his agents/PR team," Baumgardner wrote. "He had opportunities at the Shrine Bowl and the combine to compete and prove he was ready to lead an NFL team right away next season, and he opted against both — instead claiming his college tape was all NFL teams needed to see. It wasn’t, and frankly, his approach to this predraft process should be a lesson in what not to do for future quarterbacks. You cannot simply declare yourself something you aren’t and hope nobody checks you on it."

And a Dem congressman gets in on it. It just couldn't be his attitude of not showing up at the combine.
