Will we have a free election in 28? Or even 26?

Why should I believe any of these three propositions:
-
Trump will accept a loss (even with him not on the ballot) without claiming it was fraud.
-
Trump won’t order DoJ (or even DoD) to seize voting machines, etc
-
Pam Bondi and Kash Patel won’t comply with such an order.
If you think my concern is misplaced tell me why rather than just say I’m deranged.

Silence will be deafening here.

We’ll see. Many who voted for him have seen the difference when he replaced his guardrails with orange cones and might not be so quick to throw the TDS charge around.

We're already seeing that he responds to public leanings. I think you'd be looking at wholesale revolt.

You could have titled your post "Will Trump push back on an election loss", the answer would be yes. It's not obvious that Trump pushing back is the same as not having a free and fair election.

Who would stop him this time, is the question. It’s not Kash Patel. It’s not JD Vance. It’s not Hegseth.

This time around I have consistently underestimated what an utter cock he was going to be, based on the first time it wasn't actually as bad as I was expecting.
So, I imagine it will be bloody awful.

Who will stop him from what? I gather this all leads to Trump assuming permanent power? Who will stop him from that? From a legal election result ratified by SCOTUS? Who will stop him from ... gathering his armed forces and daring anybody to try to make him leave? I don't think he has a clear path to that, and I don't think Patel and Bondi and Hegseth and Vance would give him a clear path to that.

No he’d go through the whole process after removing “fraudulent votes”. Not talking military coup. More like Venezuela

As we’ve seen he can get tens of millions to believe or pretend to believe that the votes really are fraudulent and by rejecting them he is “saving democracy”. It’s not hard for me to imagine Bondi and Hegseth telling themselves that story and thinking they’re doing the “right thing”.

It's my understanding that all such schemes must go through SCOTUS, short of a military coup.

So it will ultimately come down to whether he’s willing to defy scotus. That’s not too comforting.

Again, refusing to leave would require a military coup. He will be escorted out of the building if he does not leave willingly, and then it would come down to force vs force, if necessary.

I think it's fair to say we can expect a right old pantomime.

Hopefully Father Time will help encourage Mr Trump to... not be as involved in 2028.

He declares some votes “fraudulent”, ergo his guy actually won the state, a compliant state gop sends electors, the house and VP certifies them. No tanks needed.
That’s what he tried in 2020 and a handful of patriots stopped him, up to his veep.

wrote 7 days ago last edited by@jon-nyc Final adjudication of any of those shenanigans, now as then, would be up to SCOTUS, as soon as some entity with standing challenged the friendly judgement calls from institutional Maga enthusiasts. I guess I can only say this so many times, but it remains the answer to your question, regardless of how many times the subject is brought up.

That’s one step above calling me deranged. But which of my propositions in the first post do you think are true?
